Welcome to the Biagi for Assembly website.

To my fellow residents in the 91st Assembly District, I’m running for State Assembly this year for one overriding reason: to do everything possible in Albany to alleviate our soaring property tax burden. Westchester County - including the Sound Shore towns, villages and cities of this District – has about the highest local property taxes in the entire United States of America. We’ve had it.

I’m campaigning aggressively to take a new fight for this District to the Assembly. The Sheldon Silver led super-majority has continually pounded us with runaway property tax hikes that are forcing long time residents to sell and run, and prohibiting their children’s generation from even thinking about living here. It’s gotten so bad that even more affluent families with higher disposable income are now left with little resources after paying their county, school and local taxes. The spill over is hitting our economy hard and local merchants and small businesses are hurting as well.

In Albany, I’ll push tirelessly for true tax reform - to stop unfunded mandates on our schools and local governments - not just temporary measures to ease the pain. I’ll tell Sheldon Silver loud and clear that the Sound Shore residents of Westchester need a cap on their property taxes and a state budget free from 4.9% spending increases in a weak economy.

I believe there is a way forward on this and I’m not beholden to the “business as usual” crowd that’s overstayed its welcome. The suburbs are where the American Dream is nurtured and realized. With your support this fall, we can legitimately move ahead and bring fresh representation to this gem of a community.
